Duration: 10 weeks / 20 Hours

In this unit students deepen their understanding of the theoretical context in which design operates. Each week, an architectural case study is explored spatially and positioned within its artistic and political context. During the program, students are required to research, develop, write and submit an essay of 1000 words with workshop and tutorial support. Students explore the relationship between theory and practice by relating key concepts to their studio practice. They are expected to become conversant with the historical development of architectural theories during the 20th and 21st Centuries, making particular reference to the qualities of change between differing critical positions.
