The Art of Research
Research Narratives was an international symposium held in 2008 at Chelsea College of Art and Design. Following on from the Art of Research conference held in October 2007 at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, the intention behind Research Narratives was to investigate the ways in which art and design practice can operate as research. The event was based around a display of art works and design artefacts; rather than present papers on their research, participants were invited to reflect on their own and others' work.
Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon colleges also planned a second Research Narratives symposium. This focussed on the first point of exchange between artistic researcher and peers, when placed in a community for comment, critique and acknowledgement as a contribution to the discourse.
